Job Title: Transport Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Transport Technician. The successful candidate will be part of a team designing, managing, and coordinating the works associated with Edinburgh's roads and footways renewal program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with and/or manage preliminary and detailed design work, including the design of road geometry and layouts, road pavement structure, surface and ground water drainage systems, traffic signs, and road markings.
  • Assist with contract administration and project management, including preparation of drawings and specifications for maintenance contracts and other similar works contracts.
  • Assess tender returns and ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation, NRSWA, and other relevant specifications and legislation.
  • Undertake on-site measurements, surveys, setting out, and any associated preliminary investigations.
  • Prepare technical drawings/plans using bespoke IT packages (AutoCAD).
  • Liaise with other sections/Departments, statutory undertakers, landowners, and other stakeholders involved in or affected by a project.
  • Prepare professional reports for both technical and non-technical readers.
