Your RoleBased in our production facility, we are seeking a full-time Technical Operations Manager to oversee our technical department, ensuring the delivery of exceptional technical services in food safety, quality assurance, and compliance with legislative and customer standards.
In this role, you will lead the technical team through effective communication, strategic planning, and disciplined oversight while engaging with key stakeholders across the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Formulate and implement our technical strategy while actively collaborating with stakeholders to achieve daily operational goals.
- Prepare the site for successful audits by ensuring readiness across all functions.
- Provide expert technical guidance to address daily challenges, conduct risk assessments, and manage crises as they arise.
- Ensure compliance with all technical standards, customer codes of practice, and food legislation.
- Regularly review and update technical manuals, systems, and processes, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders.
- Maintain and align the HACCP program with industry best practices.
- Oversee the Quality Management System (QMS) to uphold product standards.
- Manage the QA and Hygiene teams, ensuring adequate resources are available.
- Implement pest control measures to safeguard food safety.
- Analyze quality issues, including customer complaints, and communicate findings effectively.
- Coordinate internal audits, ensuring they are planned, executed, and followed up appropriately.
- Facilitate training and interventions as necessary to address failures and ensure continuous improvement.
- Establish a robust supplier management system.
- Investigate non-conformances and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Advise site management on compliance with statutory requirements and current technical legislation.
- Build strong relationships with external agencies for audits and compliance reporting.
- Foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration, always prioritizing the needs of our customers and their cats.
- Develop and implement food safety policies to mitigate the risk of recalls.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a high-care food manufacturing environment.
- A degree in food science or a related field.
- Familiarity with agricultural animal food production.
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and food safety systems.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with various teams.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.
