Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service is dedicated to serving a diverse population in the Southeast of England. Our team comprises approximately 400 firefighters and 100 specialist support staff, all committed to ensuring community safety.

Role Overview:

The effectiveness of our service relies heavily on the expertise and dedication of our personnel. We prioritize employee engagement and support, fostering a flexible and hybrid working environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct acceptance tests and quality assurance on all new respiratory protective equipment (RPE) and any equipment that has been repaired, tested, or serviced.
  • Ensure that all compressed breathing air cylinders are tested by an accredited contractor.
  • Monitor the quality of air produced by breathing air compressors.
  • Identify and report solutions to any issues or risks encountered.
  • Maintain a high level of computer literacy.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Experience in a maintenance role related to safety-critical equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage maintenance schedules and document results effectively.
  • Familiarity with respiratory protective equipment in either an operational or maintenance context (desirable).
  • Understanding of Health and Safety legislation as it pertains to RPE (desirable).
  • A minimum of GCSE qualifications at grade C or above (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English.
  • A valid UK driving license is required, as the role involves travel across the service area.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering is desirable.
