Dermatology Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Dermatologist to join our team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care in a dynamic and supportive environment.

• As a Consultant Dermatologist, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing specialist dermatology services at either Musgrove Park Hospital or Yeovil District Hospital.
• Clinical duties and minor surgery will account for 7 sessions per week, with additional time spent in a community dermatology hub.
• Medical students from Bristol and Peninsular Medical Schools will attend clinics for 28 weeks per year, with teaching shared across the team and led by the consultant.

For candidates with a research profile, protected research time can be negotiated to support the development of research projects.

• On-going support will be provided in terms of time and university fees, dependent upon satisfactory progress.

• Participate in monthly clinical governance meetings to contribute to the development of the dermatology team.
• Annual appraisal, job planning, and mandatory training will be completed, as per SFT consultant requirements.

• No dedicated dermatology beds are available at either hospital, with in-patients typically cared for on medical wards.
• Dermatology in-patients will be seen at least once daily by the dermatology team, with daily assessments for possible discharge to hospital-at-home or dermatology day unit attendance.

The successful applicant and Clinical Lead will agree a prospective Job Plan that outlines main duties, responsibilities, and objectives, as well as a schedule for carrying out programmed activities and managerial responsibilities.
