We are excited to announce an opportunity for an Acoustic Scientist within our dynamic Engineering Department. As a motivated and talented individual, you will build strong collaborative relationships across technical, commercial, operational, and reporting teams. Your main role will involve providing acoustic modeling support and aiding in the ongoing enhancement of marine acoustic technologies and mitigation strategies. This position is vital to Gardline's success, and we are looking for a dedicated scientist to drive innovation and contribute to our future achievements.
Key Responsibilities
Acoustic Modeling: Offer support primarily using Python, with a working knowledge of ML, AI, and TensorFlow preferred, alongside MATLAB, Octave, or similar tools. Project Management: Oversee assigned projects, providing comprehensive support during operational activities as necessary. Training Assistance: Help deliver technical training for users of acoustic equipment. Technical Guidance: Advise departmental leaders on equipment capabilities and technical resources. Equipment Innovation: Contribute to the ongoing development of marine acoustic equipment. Survey Design: Create survey packages and infrastructure for new and existing vessels or platforms. Troubleshooting Support: Provide both local and remote technical assistance for field operations. Mobilization Coordination: Plan mobilizations, develop deck and lifting plans, participate in project meetings, and manage mobilizations as required. Compliance Advisory: Guide on the capabilities of PAMS concerning country-specific regulations on marine acoustic mitigation during seismic and other marine activities. R&D Collaboration: Support research and development efforts to introduce new products into operational settings, which may involve field trials. Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with and promote company quality assurance and health, safety, security, and environmental procedures.Candidate Profile
Essential Qualities:
To excel as an Acoustic Scientist, you should be:
A proactive and ambitious professional with a strong understanding of acoustics hardware and software. Your background is likely to include experience in a similar capacity or as a senior operator in acoustics, geophysical engineering, or data processing. Ideally, you will hold a BEng/BSc in a relevant field (Acoustics, Engineering Electronics & Mechanical, or similar). Offshore experience and the ability to pass an ENG1 medical and obtain relevant offshore certifications are crucial. Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar software is essential.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
