The British Science Association is seeking a highly skilled Community Engagement Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Community Engagement team, you will play a vital role in developing and delivering high-quality community engagement programs that promote public understanding and participation in science.

Key Responsibilities
  • Community Engagement Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive community engagement strategy that aligns with the Association's mission and goals.
  • Program Development: Design and deliver community engagement programs that promote public understanding and participation in science, including programs focused on community engagement with science and research, as well as participatory grant making.
  • Community Partnerships: Establish and maintain strong partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders to promote public engagement with science and research.
  • Capacity Building: Provide capacity building and development support to community partners and participants in our grant programs to overcome challenges they may face in delivering their projects.
  • Project Management: Manage projects and programs that develop and support community-researcher partnerships and enable community organizers to embed science engagement and research in their work.
  • Team Leadership: Line manage a Community Engagement Officer and provide effective management across projects and programs.
  • Reporting and Evaluation: Develop and implement effective reporting and evaluation systems to measure the impact and effectiveness of community engagement programs.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience in community engagement, public engagement with science, and program development and management.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
  • Education: A degree in a relevant field, such as science education, public engagement with science, or community development.
