Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Cabling Engineer to support various projects across the UK, ensuring the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, terminate, and test copper and fibre optic cabling systems, including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, Cat7, and fibre.
  • Design and install containment systems (trunking, conduits, cable trays) to support the cabling system.
  • Use industry-standard testing equipment to certify network cables and connections, ensuring all installations meet required standards.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in structured cabling systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of all installations, modifications, and repairs, including cable routes, diagrams, and test results.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Liaise with clients and contractors on-site, providing clear communication and excellent customer service.
  • Work effectively as part of a team or independently to deliver projects within agreed timeframes.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in installing and maintaining structured cabling systems (minimum 1 year preferred).
  • Experience with both copper (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, etc.) and fibre optic cabling.
  • Proficient in the use of cable testing and termination equipment.
  • Familiarity with installation of containment systems (trunking, conduits, cable trays).
  • Good understanding of IT networks and telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and understand technical schematics and drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, including working at heights, confined spaces, and electrical safety.
  • Full UK driving licence required.
  • Certifications such as CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card, IPAF, and ECS (Electrotechnical Certification Scheme) are desirable.
Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3 in Data Communications, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant cabling certifications (City & Guilds 3667-02, BICSI) are highly desirable.
