Job Summary:

Ceema Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Design and Manufacturing facility, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of complex products and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Authority and Mentor: Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and ensure the delivery of high-quality designs.
  • Design and Development: Produce 3D and 2D CAD models of parts and assemblies using Catia V5, and conduct FEA, FMEA, and design calculations to ensure part certification.
  • Manufacturing Support: Collaborate with the manufacturing team to support the production of wind tunnel test subject components, sub-assemblies, and associated rigs.
  • Design for Manufacture: Apply design for manufacture principles to ensure efficient and cost-effective production processes.
  • Project Management: Contribute to project launch, design review, and project wash-up meetings, and identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Quality and Safety: Ensure compliance with company quality standards and health and safety procedures.
  • Communication: Regularly communicate with team members, suppliers, customers, and other departments to ensure effective collaboration and project delivery.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of GD&T, FEA, DFMEA, and stress calculation.
  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies, including 6 Sigma and LEAN manufacturing principles.
  • Highly proficient in CAD software, including Catia V5, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to support and develop less experienced engineers, and support supervisors and line management.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing workloads, with a problem-solving approach to develop and implement workaround solutions.
  • Committed to self-improvement and receptive to new ideas and ways of working.
  • Aerospace or aerodynamic application experience, R&D/testing background, and knowledge of MRP systems and high-speed aerodynamics testing.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must satisfy security clearance requirements, including 5 years of continual UK residency.
