Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement operational safety strategies and protocols for autonomous vehicle systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Conduct safety assessments, including hazard analysis, risk assessments, and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), to identify potential safety issues and implement mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, hardware, and systems engineers, to integrate safety features into autonomous vehicle platforms.
- Monitor and analyze the operational safety performance of autonomous vehicles in real-world environments, identifying areas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards such as ISO 26262, SAE J3016, and other relevant industry regulations and best practices.
- Lead the investigation and root cause analysis of any safety-related incidents, developing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Provide safety training and guidance to the engineering and operations teams to foster a culture of safety within the organization.
- Stay current with advancements in autonomous vehicle safety technologies and regulations, applying this knowledge to improve safety protocols and practices.
- Document safety processes, procedures, and incident reports to ensure thorough and accurate records are maintained.
- Bachelor's degree in Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in operational safety engineering, preferably in the automotive or autonomous vehicle industry.
- Strong understanding of safety standards and regulations applicable to autonomous vehicles, such as ISO 26262, SAE J3016, and functional safety principles.
- Experience conducting safety assessments, hazard analysis, and risk management in complex engineering environments.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address potential safety issues proactively.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Familiarity with vehicle communication networks, control systems, and software safety is a plus.
- Certification in functional safety (e.g., ISO or other relevant safety certifications.
- Experience with autonomous vehicle testing and validation, particularly from a safety perspective.
- Knowledge of human factors engineering and its application in vehicle safety.
