Job Overview

Talent4Group is representing a dynamic investor-backed software and professional services firm that has secured substantial acquisition funding from a prominent Private Equity fund. This organization is recognized as a trusted partner to some of the largest global enterprises. They are currently in search of a driven Group Financial Controller to serve as a key advisor to the CFO. This role is pivotal in leading and enhancing a top-tier finance function, facilitating the company's ongoing expansion as it approaches a significant exit event. The position offers a hybrid working model, requiring three days a week at the London headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Control

  • Oversee the Financial and Management accounts team to ensure timely and precise reporting to all stakeholders, including:
  • Manage daily accounting operations and month-end processes, encompassing billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable (including credit control oversight), and cost and revenue accounting.
  • Supervise the monthly payroll process through an external provider to guarantee timely payroll submissions and payments.
  • Research and analyze technical accounting issues, ensuring compliance with internal and external reporting standards and UK GAAP, including acquisition accounting.
  • Enhance the month-end reporting process with a focus on continuous improvement and automation.
  • Lead the internal year-end process, addressing critical accounting issues, liaising with external auditors, and preparing Annual Financial Statements, Tax returns, and R&D Claims.
  • Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts for all group subsidiary entities and ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory returns.
  • Manage the core financial control environment, conducting regular reviews to identify emerging issues.

Tax Management

  • Ensure compliance with all business tax obligations and provide strategic tax advice, including:
  • Oversee compliance with direct and indirect tax returns and payments, including Corporation Tax, VAT, and PSA, while applying appropriate tax reliefs.
  • Review and manage the Tax Planning Strategy, addressing any tax implications arising from future business strategies, and identifying new tax opportunities and risks.

Treasury Management

  • Implement key controls necessary for effective cash management, including:
  • Maintain and monitor cash utilization and related covenants (financial and ESG).
  • Manage current and future working capital facilities and identify strategies for optimizing working capital.
  • Prepare a Rolling Cash Report and collaborate with the FP&A team to ensure alignment with rolling fiscal year forecasts and budgets.
  • Develop and maintain essential banking relationships.

Financial Systems Oversight

Responsible for the core financial systems that enable accurate financial reporting, actively seeking opportunities for automation and system enhancements.

Acquisition Financial Support

Provide comprehensive financial support for group acquisitions, covering due diligence, risk assessment, integration planning, and post-deal financial control.

Team Leadership

The Group Financial Controller will lead a team of three professionals across Management and Financial Accounts, Tax, Treasury, and Payroll. Responsibilities include:

  • Fostering a culture of learning and development within the team, ensuring each member is equipped for success through clear objectives and development plans.
  • Playing a key role in attracting diverse finance talent, exemplifying finance values and behaviors.
  • Setting clear expectations for the team, empowering them to deliver results, and creating a supportive environment for success.

Qualifications:

  • Fully qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA or equivalent) with over five years of post-qualification experience.
  • Confidence to work independently and engage with senior stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of identifying deficiencies and implementing effective improvements.
  • Ability to discern critical information amidst complexity.
  • Extensive experience in leading teams and developing talent, with strong delegation and management skills.
  • Significant experience at the Controller level in Management and Financial reporting, including leading audits and completing Statutory Accounts.
  • High levels of personal credibility, professionalism, and ethical standards.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in Excel and MS Office.
  • Experience with financial systems such as Sage, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.

Compensation: £100k - £120k + Bonus + Benefits
