Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our enthusiastic team at a dynamic and inclusive school located on the border of South East London and Kent.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with SEN in a tailored and individualized manner, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist the classroom teacher in delivering lessons and managing classroom behavior, ensuring an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support for students, helping them to understand and complete tasks.
  • Modify and adapt learning materials to accommodate the diverse needs of students with SEN.
  • Track and report on the progress and development of students, providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians.
  • Foster independence in students by encouraging and guiding them to complete tasks on their own when appropriate.
  • Contribute to the creation of a positive and inclusive school culture, promoting the social and emotional well-being of all students.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other support staff to ensure the effective implementation of individual education plans (IEPs).
Requirements:
  • A relevant qualification in education or SEN support is desirable but not essential.
  • Previous experience working with children with SEN in a school or similar setting is highly advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with diverse needs.
  • Ability to adapt to the changing needs of students and the school environment.
  • Willingness to work as part of a team and contribute to the overall success of the school community.
  • Enhanced DBS Check: Must have or be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
