The Role: Security Platform Engineer

The Amazon Security Platform Engineering team develops scalable self-service systems for collecting security-relevant logs from both internal and third-party systems. These robust data collection services seamlessly integrate with our internal tools, ensuring that the collected logs effectively inform security decisions and safeguard our business.

We are seeking a passionate Systems Development Engineer who thrives on designing and implementing solutions to address complex challenges within mission-critical systems that protect Amazon's data and customer information.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable logging solutions capable of handling petabytes of data deployed globally.
  • Collaborate closely with product owners and customers to deliver cutting-edge features that enhance the customer experience and streamline their access to essential services.
  • Engage with other teams to onboard their services for data ingestion into our platform, contribute to tooling for data analysis, and ensure efficient data transformation.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to optimize system performance, reliability, and security.
Your Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • A strong understanding of systems engineering fundamentals, including networking, storage, and operating systems.
  • Proven experience (non-internship) in professional software development.
  • Experience in designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) new and existing systems.
  • Hands-on experience with networking, storage systems, operating systems, and systems engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience utilizing AWS cloud solutions in a DevOps environment.
  • Expertise in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and build processes.
  • Experience building services using AWS products.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment utilizing the Scrum methodology.
