Position Overview

Healds Road Surgery is seeking a dedicated Salaried General Practitioner to join our dynamic clinical team. The role involves working 4 to 6 sessions weekly, specifically on Thursdays, Fridays, and Mondays, to deliver exceptional healthcare services to our patient population of approximately 12,300 individuals.

Our practice prides itself on being progressive, with a supportive and friendly team environment. As a training practice, we have extensive experience in mentoring and developing staff across various roles.

The surgery is housed in a modern facility equipped with ample staff parking and conveniently located near public transport options.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of duties, including but not limited to:

  • Conducting surgery consultations and managing telephone inquiries.
  • Visiting patients in their homes and addressing clinical queries in a timely manner.
  • Making informed, independent decisions regarding patient care, whether self-referred or referred by other healthcare professionals.
  • Evaluating the healthcare needs of patients presenting with undiagnosed conditions.
  • Screening for disease risk factors and early indicators of health issues.
  • Collaborating with patients to develop care plans in accordance with established disease management protocols.
  • Providing health education and counseling to patients.
  • Managing patient admissions and discharges, and making appropriate referrals to other healthcare providers.
  • Maintaining accurate and contemporaneous consultation records.
  • Collecting data for quality assurance and audit purposes.
  • Issuing computer-generated prescriptions while adhering to the practice's prescribing guidelines.
  • Generally, fulfilling all standard duties and responsibilities associated with a General Practitioner in a primary care setting.

Candidate Profile

Required Experience

  • Proven experience working as a General Practitioner in a primary care environment.

Required Qualifications

  • A medical degree recognized by the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Completion of a two-year foundation training program in general practice.
  • Successful completion of specialist training in general medical practice.
