Job Title: BSL Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a qualified BSL Teaching Assistant to join our team in a primary school in Tower Hamlets. As a BSL Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the education of deaf and hard of hearing pupils.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a Level 1 BSL qualification or above and experience working with children/young people with Special Educational Needs. You will be responsible for supporting the classroom teacher with the day-to-day running of a class and assisting with the delivery of BSL lessons.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the classroom teacher with the day-to-day running of a class
  • Assist with the delivery of BSL lessons
  • Provide support for pupils with Hearing Impairment
  • Relay BSL from hearing impaired students to non-signing students
Requirements
  • British Sign Language (BSL) qualification
  • Experience working with children/young people with Special Educational Needs
  • Ability to relay BSL from hearing impaired students to non-signing students
