Job Title: Speech and Language Therapy Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Speech and Language Therapy Teaching Assistant to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As a Speech and Language Therapy Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with communication and learning difficulties in a special school setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver communication activities for individuals and small groups with support from class teachers and Speech and Language Therapists.
  • Develop and implement specific communication programs devised by Speech and Language Therapists.
  • Work with class teachers to plan and prepare visual aids and resources for lessons and communication groups.
  • Support students in transitions around the school and offsite by preparing transition packs with timetables, I am working for, and motivators.
  • Advocate for the communication needs of students in your class.
  • Record interventions run within the classroom.
  • Develop and prepare visual materials for therapy and classroom sessions.
  • Work under the supervision of a Speech and Language Therapist and a class teacher.
  • Provide support to less experienced colleagues, modeling good practice.
  • Keep written records of pupil observations.
  • Assist in providing training to staff and colleagues.
  • Carry out general Teaching Assistant responsibilities.
