We are currently seeking a skilled Workshop Fitter to join our team at our Newport depot.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out maintenance and repair tasks on our mobile and fixed plant equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and meet the required safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and repair of mobile and fixed plant equipment, including hydraulic excavators, dumpers, telehandlers, and dozers.
  • Carrying out cutting and welding tasks as required by the workshop supervisor.
  • Keeping accurate records of works carried out, parts used, and pre-delivery inspections.
  • Liaising with outside contract fitting staff and complying with delegated responsibilities in the areas of Safety, Health, and Welfare.
  • Carrying out mechanical repairs and maintenance duties assigned or requested by the Workshop Supervisor and Service Manager.

Requirements:

  • 2 years post-qualification experience working as a mobile plant fitter.
  • Experience and competency in fault-finding, maintenance, and repair of heavy-duty construction plant.
  • Knowledge and awareness of Health, Safety, and Welfare practice and legislation, with experience of on-site construction situations.
  • Able to understand and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must have own tools.
