We are currently seeking a skilled Workshop Fitter to join our team at our Manchester depot.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out maintenance and repair duties on our mobile and fixed plant equipment, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards and in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and repair of mobile and fixed plant equipment, including hydraulic excavators, dumpers, telehandlers, and dozers.
  • Carrying out cutting and welding tasks as required by the workshop supervisor.
  • Keeping accurate records of work completed, including pre-delivery inspections and returns inspections of plant, records of works carried out, and parts used.
  • Liaising with outside contract fitting staff and ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards.
  • Complying with safety, health, and welfare regulations and taking a proactive approach to reducing accidents and dangerous occurrences in the workplace.
  • Carrying out any mechanical repairs and maintenance duties assigned or requested by the workshop supervisor or service manager.

Requirements:

  • 2 years' post-qualification experience working as a mobile plant fitter.
  • Experience and competency in fault-finding, maintenance, and repair of heavy-duty construction plant.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health, safety, and welfare practices and legislation, with experience of on-site construction situations.
  • Able to understand and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must have own tools.
