Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Primary Care Staff Nurse to join our team at Sanctuary Personnel Ltd. As a Locum Prison Registered General Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality clinical care to patients in a prison setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality clinical care to patients in a prison setting, including acute and primary care, long-term conditions management, and health promotion activities.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care to patients with complex needs.
  • Develop and implement effective patient-centered care plans, including long-term condition registers and consistent delivery throughout all prisons within the service.
  • Participate in managerial and professional clinical supervision programs, training, and annual appraisal to ensure that it becomes an integral part of team practice.
  • Ensure the implementation of effective patient-centered care planning tools, long-term condition registers, and consistent delivery throughout all prisons within the service.
  • Undertake training to maximize uptake of screening, health promotion, and prevention activity, including vaccinations.
  • Ensure a named care coordinator is allocated for every patient with complex needs to ensure a proactive, evidence-based approach to clinical interventions, health promotion/prevention activity, and management of acute and long-term conditions using our stepped care approach.
  • Ensure that a single, integrated care plan is developed, and the individualized care is regularly reviewed.
  • Ensure that comprehensive risk assessments and care plans are regularly reviewed in a needs-led review cycle.
  • Ensure care coordination criteria and MDT meetings for patients with complex needs are tailored to the needs of the establishment.
  • Ensure that training in evidence-based CBT approaches is undertaken to enhance consistency and quality of care delivery.
  • Support patients to manage their health at every stage, from oral health to long-term conditions.
  • Ensure that health promotion is embedded into every aspect of the service.
  • Work in accordance with policies and guidelines.
Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent in Nursing with active NMC Registration.
  • Demonstrate and provide robust expert clinical skills with a sound understanding of evidence-based nursing practice to provide a proactive approach to ensure quality and outcome-driven practice on a day-to-day basis.
  • Be familiar with Prison Standards, Standing Orders, Circular instructions, Notices to Staff, Health and Safety, and all other relevant material to function as an informed practitioner within a prison setting.
  • Working knowledge of current issues/agendas facing prison/offender healthcare.
  • Experience of setting, monitoring, and evaluating standards of care.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, presenting ideas with clarity in a persuasive and influential style.
  • Knowledge of current National Prison Health Quality & Performance Indicators.
  • Ability to manage complex & challenging behavior.
