We are pleased to present an opportunity to join the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust during a transformative period. We have established several positions for Clinical Fellows in Anaesthesia to enhance our anaesthesia services.
The successful candidates will integrate into a dedicated and skilled team, committed to delivering exceptional anaesthetic care. These roles will be situated in a state-of-the-art facility designed to support advanced surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
The Clinical Fellows will be tasked with providing anaesthesia for elective surgical procedures under the guidance of experienced consultants. Adherence to established protocols and local guidelines, including enhanced recovery pathways, is essential.
Responsibilities will include:
- Participating in the anaesthesia rota, ensuring adequate coverage and support for post-operative care.
- Assisting in the management of patients in the post-operative care unit, with a focus on patient safety and quality of care.
- Collaborating with junior staff, providing mentorship and support in clinical settings.
- Engaging in departmental governance and quality improvement initiatives.

Job Expectations
These Clinical Fellow positions are particularly suited for anaesthetists who have completed foundational training and are eager to expand their expertise in preparation for advanced training opportunities.
Successful candidates will be encouraged to engage in quality improvement projects aligned with their interests, with dedicated time allocated for these initiatives. Support for professional development, including preparation for fellowship examinations, will be provided.
Essential Qualifications
- Full GMC registration with a license to practice.
- Completion of the Royal College Initial Assessment of Anaesthetic Competency.
- Experience in anaesthesia within the NHS framework.
- Demonstrated ability to manage patients safely in a clinical setting.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- Current Advanced Life Support certification.
- Primary FRCA or equivalent qualifications.
- Prior experience in anaesthesia, ideally two years.
- Completion of Core Training in Anaesthesia.
- Evidence of teaching and mentorship experience.
