Housing Solutions Specialist

Middlesbrough Council is seeking a skilled professional to fill a temporary position as an Accommodation and Housing Officer. This role is a critical part of our team, responsible for assessing the needs of service users and formulating personal housing plans to prevent homelessness and provide comprehensive support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessing Service User Needs: Conduct thorough assessments of service users' needs, taking into account their individual circumstances and requirements.
- Formulating Personal Housing Plans: Develop and implement personalized housing plans to address the needs of service users, ensuring they have access to suitable accommodation.
- Providing Support and Guidance: Offer comprehensive information, advice, and guidance to service users and landlords to prevent homelessness and facilitate the sourcing of alternative accommodation.
- Coordinating Temporary Accommodation: Arrange temporary accommodation for service users, making referrals to supported accommodation services as necessary.
- Collaborating with Partners: Work closely with the Council's commissioned safe accommodation services and other stakeholders to ensure effective support and housing solutions.
Requirements:
- Qualifications and Experience: A good standard of education to a Level 2 or equivalent relevant qualification, with a degree-level education or equivalent in a related field. Proven experience of working with complex service users in a multi-agency setting and ability to work collaboratively with partners.
- Knowledge and Skills: Proven experience of working with people with domestic abuse, housing, and homelessness. Knowledge of the legislative, guidance, and policy framework for Homelessness. Ability to demonstrate a range of communication skills, including written and verbal communication.
