The Nottinghamshire Urgent Access Line is designed to offer immediate crisis and mental health assistance to various individuals in Nottinghamshire. This service is delivered in collaboration with Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
The helpline caters to children, young adults, and families who may be struggling with mental health management and emotional distress. We provide tailored support that focuses on coping strategies and connects individuals with local resources and services. Additionally, professionals and organizations can reach out for guidance on supporting those facing mental health challenges.

This service operates every day of the week, all year round.

Our committed team of Recovery Workers is available to deliver mental health and crisis support, addressing emotional and practical challenges that callers may encounter while exploring effective coping strategies.

### Key Responsibilities

As a Recovery Worker on the helpline, you will play a vital role in our team, offering emotional support and a compassionate ear to a diverse range of callers.

Your expertise will be utilized to address mental health concerns and broader social issues, directing callers to appropriate organizations. You will assist callers in implementing coping strategies and provide guidance on acquiring new skills that promote overall well-being.

In this role, your ability to think quickly will be essential in helping callers manage their distress and provide necessary crisis support.

  • Collaborate with service users to deliver crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to facilitate recovery.
  • Provide immediate assistance as needed, focusing on problem-solving.
  • Identify risk factors and ensure the safety of service users.
  • Accurately signpost to both internal and external services based on identified needs.
  • Maintain meticulous record-keeping to meet required standards and contribute to service monitoring.
  • Represent the service professionally at all times.
  • Participate in the co-development of the service by encouraging service user, family, and carer involvement, gathering feedback, and supporting opportunities for broader service reviews.
### Ideal Candidate Profile

We seek an individual who can leverage their knowledge and experience to create a safe and supportive environment for those in mental health crises, employing a compassionate and recovery-oriented approach. With a natural ability to instill calmness and provide a non-judgmental listening ear, our ideal candidate will assist a wide array of callers.

Experience in the mental health sector is preferred, along with a proven history of supporting individuals in distress. Exceptional communication skills are crucial, as is a composed and professional demeanor.

We are looking for a resilient and focused individual who can maintain concentration and alertness during busy shifts and manage high call volumes effectively.

Our candidate should have experience collaborating with various organizations, from statutory bodies to third-sector entities. Our team works closely with the NHS Trust to deliver enhanced support and achieve optimal outcomes for our callers.

We value commitment and a willingness to work collaboratively within a team to provide the highest quality recovery-focused care.

The position involves a mix of shifts on a 24-hour rolling rota, including evenings, overnight shifts, and weekends.
