Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children's Residential Care Worker to join our team at Kent County Council. As a key member of our residential care team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to children and young people with learning disabilities and/or Autism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and young people, promoting their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to create a safe and nurturing environment, ensuring the needs of each child are met.
  • Assist with daily living tasks, such as personal care and medication management, while promoting independence and self-advocacy.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of individual care plans, ensuring they are tailored to meet the unique needs of each child.
  • Contribute to a culture of open communication, actively listening to children and young people, and addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.
  • Support the delivery of recreational and social activities, promoting social skills and community integration.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as therapists and educators, to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to care.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development, staying up-to-date with best practices and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent qualification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with children, young people, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including shift work and weekends, to meet the needs of the service.
  • Knowledge of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and other relevant legislation.
  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance.
