Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Junior Software Developer to join our client's Hertfordshire-based team. As a Junior Software Developer, you will be responsible for working on various projects and responsibilities, including REST and SOAP web services, working closely with technical architects and development managers, contributing to testing, configuration, and release processes, and participating in design and implementation decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test software applications using Java and web application development technologies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements
  • Develop and maintain high-quality code, following industry best practices and coding standards
  • Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to improve code quality and efficiency
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in software development

Requirements

  • BSc in Computer Science from a Russell Group University
  • 1-3 years of commercial experience with Java and web application development
  • Strong knowledge of Java, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Microservices, Cloud hosting (e.g., AWS), Containerisation (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), Build tools (e.g., Maven, Gradle), and XML or JSON
  • Working knowledge of at least one J2EE container (e.g., Tomcat)
  • Bonus: frontend experience such as React, Angular, Vue
