About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and engaging Alumni Engagement Coordinator to play a vital role in organizing celebratory events and raising funds for Van Mildert College. As a key member of the College team, you will work closely with the Principal and other colleagues to develop and deliver both the celebrations and the accompanying major fundraising project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective alumni engagement strategies to build strong relationships with our global alumni community.
  • Plan and coordinate alumni events, including the College's 60th anniversary celebrations, to enhance Durham University's reputation and foster a sense of community among alumni.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of alumni interactions, giving, and stewardship, providing regular reports and analysis to senior colleagues.
  • Collaborate with the Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO) to identify and pursue fundraising opportunities, including regular giving and major giving initiatives.
  • Provide administrative support for Van Mildert College's VM60 Working Group meetings and the Van Mildert College Trust meetings.
  • Contribute to the development of operational plans and procedures to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
Requirements
  • Five GCSE's at least Grade C or level four (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics or a Post-16 qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a similar role or environment, for example: alumni engagement, events management, PR, marketing or a similar customer-facing role.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships, both internally and externally.
  • Strong digital competence across a range of digital devices and apps, including digital communication tools and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Committed to continuing professional development and a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and systems.
