We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Residential Practitioner to join our team at Reed. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in supporting, encouraging, and safeguarding children and young people in their development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a key worker, implementing care plans, conducting risk assessments, and devising support and health plans.
- Provide a safe, stimulating, and secure living and learning environment, supporting the day-to-day physical and emotional needs of children and young people.
- Work with professionals and communities of origin to sustain links and understand past problems.
- Nurture children's ambitions for their future and their learning, both in and out of school.
- Support children and young people's emotional, mental, and physical health needs to build self-esteem.
- Respect privacy while maintaining a duty of care, ensuring that living spaces are clean and safe.
- Provide appropriate levels of personal care for children and young people with disabilities and complex needs.
- Ensure all records are accurate, up to date, and GDPR compliant.
- Manage complex and challenging behaviour in an assertive, restorative, and sensitive manner.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, external agencies, families, and the wider public.
- Participate in appraisal, training, and development activities to ensure up-to-date knowledge and skills.
Requirements:
- Flexibility to travel and work across different locations.
- Availability to work on a rota basis, including sleep-ins, early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
- Ability to build relationships and actively engage with children and young people.
- Maintenance of accurate manual and digital records in accordance with GDPR.
- Skills in managing conflict and aggression using de-escalation techniques.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care or equivalent, or willingness to complete the qualification within 2 years of starting work.
- Good standards of literacy and numeracy.
- Basic computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft packages.
- Recent experience working with young people or vulnerable adults who may have emotional or behavioural difficulties.
