Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to lead our Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) team within the Histopathology department at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with a proven track record of managing and supervising teams.

Main Responsibilities
  • Perform MLA duties and microtomy
  • Ensure all specimens are processed in accordance with agreed laboratory procedures
  • Input data into the lab IT systems in an accurate and timely manner
  • Prepare solutions and stains, and maintain supplies within the laboratory
  • Coordinate and supervise day-to-day activities of the MLA team
  • Help to lead and develop training and competency programmes for the MLA team

Requirements
  • Must hold level 2/Grade C English and maths (GCSE, Functional skills or equivalent)
  • Previous experience managing/leading a team
  • Knowledge of using a LIMS and other standard IT packages
  • Experience training other staff members
  • Knowledge of working in a clinical laboratory
  • Experience in problem solving
