Job Title: Special Education Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Support Assistant to join our dynamic team at a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Hayes. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Needs (SEMH) and Behavioural Difficulties.

Job Overview:

This role is based in a PRU, serving children excluded from mainstream education or those needing extra support beyond traditional school settings. The main aim of the PRU is to reintegrate students into mainstream education. As a Special Education Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with SEND and Behavioural Difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with SEMH and Behavioural Difficulties in a PRU setting
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized support plans
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students, promoting positive relationships and behaviors
  • Assist with lesson planning and delivery, adapting materials to meet the needs of students with SEND
  • Monitor and record student progress, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to address these
Requirements:
  • Passion for education and commitment to supporting students with SEND
  • Previous experience working with students with SEMH and Behavioural Difficulties is advantageous
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach
