Position Summary:

As a Student Behaviour Support Specialist, you will be instrumental in assisting students to enhance their conduct and involvement in their educational journey. Your key responsibilities will encompass:

  • Individual Mentoring: Offering personalized guidance to students requiring assistance in managing their behaviour and emotions, aiding them in developing coping mechanisms and positive conduct.
  • Group Interventions: Facilitating small group sessions aimed at enhancing social skills, resolving conflicts, and regulating emotions.
  • Classroom Assistance: Supporting educators in maintaining classroom discipline, ensuring a conducive and effective learning atmosphere for all students.
  • Progress Monitoring: Keeping meticulous records of student behaviour and development, and providing regular updates to educators, guardians, and school leadership.
  • Behaviour Management Plans: Crafting and executing behaviour management strategies tailored to the unique needs of each student, in collaboration with educators and support personnel.
  • Crisis Intervention: Addressing behavioural incidents and delivering immediate support and intervention as required.
  • Engagement with Parents: Liaising with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child's progress and to involve them in behaviour improvement initiatives.
  • Professional Growth: Engaging in training and development opportunities to remain updated with the latest best practices in behaviour management and mentoring.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with secondary school students, especially those exhibiting challenging behaviours.
  • Strong knowledge of behaviour management techniques and interventions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Patience, resilience, and a sincere dedication to fostering student success.
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively with educators, support staff, and parents.
  • Relevant qualifications or experience in education, psychology, or a related discipline are beneficial.
