Position Overview
An exceptional opportunity exists for an Advanced Medical Administrative Assistant to join the Respiratory Administration team within a prominent healthcare institution.
This role is available on a fixed-term basis, with the possibility of secondments, contingent upon managerial approval.
The position entails a commitment of 6 months, with working hours distributed across weekdays.
The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of Medical Administrative Assistants responsible for managing the workload of the department's Consultants, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality service.
Applicants should possess a minimum of 4 GCSEs (grades 9 - 4 or C - A) or equivalent qualifications, along with RSA Stage 3 typing and word processing skills (or equivalent experience). Proficiency in MS Office applications and a qualification or progress towards NVQ Level 3 in Business/Medical Administration or AMSPAR is also required.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize a diverse workload are essential, as are excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to communicate effectively with various staff members at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for producing precise clinical and general correspondence, frequently utilizing complex and sensitive medical terminology through audio transcription.
Additionally, the role involves responding to telephone inquiries from patients who may be anxious or distressed, addressing sensitive and challenging questions with care.
The selected individual will gain invaluable experience in the daily operations of a busy Medical Administrative office.
About the Team
The new team member will integrate into a dynamic group of Medical Administrative Assistants. This role is crucial in fostering the relationship between patients, the clinical team, and the Consultants. The team collaborates to manage the Consultants' workload effectively, ensuring a seamless service delivery.

Education and Training
Essential
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, along with other IT skills acquired through training and practical experience.
- A minimum of 4 GCSEs (grades 9 - 4 or C and above) or equivalent qualifications.
- RSA Stage 3 typing and word processing skills (or equivalent).
Desirable
- AMSPAR qualification.
- NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration.
- ECDL certification.
