The primary objective of this role is to deliver HR expertise and act as a business leader, enhancing the performance of Power Leadership teams while executing the Power People Strategy and managing the employment and skills strategy within Power T&D.

Key Responsibilities

As a Strategic HR Partner, your responsibilities will include:

Assisting leaders in evaluating the current effectiveness of the organization and proposing actionable strategies that ensure the achievement of medium-term business objectives. Your assessments and proposals should encompass structure, culture, personnel, skills, and processes in alignment with the business strategy, ensuring a collaborative and innovative approach. Utilizing change management expertise to guarantee that transitions are strategically planned and executed, adhering to best practices, legal requirements, and minimizing unnecessary employee relations issues, costs, and disruptions. Developing capability enhancement plans that align with the business strategy by creating career pathways and development solutions, utilizing existing materials while identifying additional Power-specific development opportunities. Formulating and executing a resource strategy that maximizes expertise to meet current and future workload demands, including forecasting needs for strategic hires, graduates, apprentices, and trainees. Supporting social value initiatives aimed at assisting ex-military personnel, ex-offenders, long-term unemployed individuals, and providing work experience opportunities. Leading the talent management agenda, including succession planning, to ensure that high-potential individuals are recognized, have development plans in place, and are actively engaged in their career progression. Collaborating with the Project Director and leadership team to cultivate an inclusive, engaging, innovative, and high-performance culture, with a focus on team effectiveness. Assisting leadership teams with employee engagement initiatives, including action planning, feedback mechanisms, and long-term engagement strategies that align with customer needs. Managing the relationship with HR teams within Balfour Beatty to ensure operational excellence and a seamless cycle of HR activities for all employees.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualities and experience:

A proven history of establishing credible relationships with senior leadership teams, leading organizational and cultural change initiatives, and formulating effective HR strategies within complex environments. Demonstrated experience in navigating complex, matrixed organizations. A background in leading Organizational Effectiveness programs and managing complex change. Experience in contributing to the creation of an effective organization, particularly at the leadership level, ensuring alignment of individual and team capabilities with business requirements. Proficiency in managing HR initiatives, with a broad understanding of employee relations contexts, including reorganizations. Strong relationship-building skills with senior stakeholders, including the ability to constructively challenge and influence. Highly developed commercial acumen, emotional intelligence, and the ability to coach and influence senior colleagues. Awareness of the broader employment, skills, and training landscape. Exceptional collaboration skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively. Excellent communication skills, characterized by confidence and clarity.

Desirable Qualifications

Experience in a unionized environment. Familiarity with complex terms and conditions of employment. CIPD qualification.
