We are seeking a skilled Aircraft Simulator Engineer to join our team at the Voyager Academy at Royal Air Force Brize Norton.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer to join a small, diligent team within a mature, dynamic Thales project. As an Aircraft Simulator Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining UK CAA accreditation on the STE, conducting preventative and corrective maintenance activities, and ensuring that all maintenance activities are recorded.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in maintaining UK CAA accreditation on the STE
  • Conduct all preventative maintenance activities in accordance with the Maintenance Programme for the STE and Classroom equipment
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities are recorded
  • Ensure that any Simulator Failures are logged on the fault management system
  • Ensure that the inventory management system for spares and their repair cycles is maintained
  • On a monthly basis assist in the preparation of the reliability and availability statistics for the STE and Classroom equipment
  • Assist with ensuring the performance of the validation/CAA checks of the STE, including running 100% of the Qualification Test Guide per year
  • Assist with the implementation of software backups and recovery processes
  • Attend any staff development training as required
  • Ensure that the instructor operating station and ownership databases are updated as per supplied digital aeronautical flight information file
  • Incorporate into the delivered Terrain Database updates to the visual databases limited to runway markings only
  • Ensure consumables are replenished when required, in accordance with the respective STE manufacturer processes for consumable replenishment
  • Ensure that tools and test equipment are fit for use and sufficient for the task and report any deficiencies to supervisor
  • Comply with the correct engineering practices and procedures, e.g. the appropriate Health and Safety precautions are observed and the necessary documentation records are completed
  • Ensure no unauthorised modification is carried out on any equipment under their control
  • Comply with all maintenance and administrative activities in accordance with the relevant CAA, ATrS and Company regulations
  • Ensure that all outputs are fit for purpose and achieved at the most economic cost
  • Comply with the security awareness programme within their area of responsibility
  • Dispose of all consumable parts and waste products in accordance with national and local legislation and Thales Company policy
  • Assist in the control of Spares, tools, test equipment and undertake any secondary tasks as required for efficient running of Site maintenance operations
Requirements
  • An individual with a Positive can do attitude
  • Previous Simulator Engineering experience and/or Airbus A330 flight experience/training
  • Strong IT skills - IT Networking experience and able to work within Microsoft office environments
  • Keen fault finding skills & a high attention to detail
  • Able to read system drawings to trace faults and aid with malfunction corrections
  • Good understanding of electro-mechanical systems and architecture
  • Minimum Electrical / Electronic based ONC/OND or equivalent
  • Recognise FSTD fault conditions and ability to rectify identified faults
Security Clearance

This role will require SC Clearance. It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant will undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance.
