About the Role:

TeacherActive is collaborating with local educational authorities to deliver specialized tutoring services aimed at assisting young individuals with intricate special educational requirements who are currently not engaged in formal education.

As a Special Educational Needs Instructor, you will provide tailored support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, as well as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), either in their residences or in community settings, for a predetermined number of hours each week.

Each case presents unique challenges and expectations, reflecting the specific needs of the student. A significant emphasis is often placed on enhancing Numeracy and Literacy skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalized educational support to students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.
  • Demonstrate confidence in working autonomously in various environments.
  • Establish effective connections with children and their families to foster trusting relationships.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of the KS3/KS4 curriculum.
  • Adapt and differentiate the curriculum creatively to meet individual student needs.
  • Exhibit understanding and experience in working with students with SEMH/SEN.
  • Hold an undergraduate degree or possess relevant experience in supporting pupils with special educational needs.
  • Maintain good general education levels in English and Mathematics.
  • Demonstrate a keen interest in and understanding of various learning difficulties and disabilities.
  • Adapt to diverse working environments and cater to students with varying abilities.
  • Employ a practical approach to address the needs of students with learning difficulties and disabilities.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with a compassionate demeanor.
  • Show flexibility in working hours and patterns.
