Position Overview

NRL Recruitment is representing a prominent international Engineering Consultancy seeking a skilled Principal Telecomms Engineer. The position offers flexibility in location, ideally situated within a commutable distance from key areas.

Role Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Utilize design expertise in Rail, specifically in Station Information Systems and preferably in Operational Communications Systems.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Bentley MicroStation to effectively support and guide the design team.
  • Have prior experience as an approved CRE and meet the qualifications outlined in NR/L2/RSE/02009.
Work Environment

While the ideal base location is flexible, candidates should anticipate working in an office or client environment for two days a week, with the option to work remotely for the remainder of the week.

Design Contributions

The Principal Telecomms Engineer will lead and contribute to the development of:

  • Optioneering Studies
  • Outline and Detailed Designs following NR GRIP/PACE procedures for:
    • CCTV
    • Public Address / Voice Alarm Systems
    • WiFi Networks
    • Customer Information Systems
    • Ticket Vending Systems
Operational Telecom Systems

Additionally, the candidate should possess the capability to:

  • Design Cable Routes
  • Conduct Copper & Optical Fibre Cable Design
  • Manage Telephone Systems (Analogue/IP)
  • Oversee IP Data Networks (FTNx)
  • Implement GSM-R Solutions
Certification Requirements

To facilitate site surveys, candidates must hold PTS (Personal Track Certification).
