Role OverviewAs Managing Editor at Digital Frontier, you'll be steering our editorial direction across all platforms. Reporting to the Managing Director, you'll oversee our editorial team's day-to-day content delivery. This includes our website, magazine, podcasts, video content, and events. You'll lead a talented team consisting of editors, reporters, sub editors, and freelancers. We're growing fast, so expect to welcome more team members soon, especially in podcasting and video.
Your MissionTo champion high-quality content in digital technology: You'll oversee the creation and distribution of long-form exclusive pieces across our platforms, engage our community through social media and newsletters, and lead your team in delivering original, informative, and entertaining content on the future of digital technology. We're looking at tech through the lens of business, finance, and culture, and we need you to bring it all into focus.
You won't be working in a silo. You'll be collaborating closely with our events, social media, design, and commercial teams to ensure our editorial strategy is cohesive, impactful, and aligned with our business goals.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and nurture the editorial team, fostering a culture where quality and innovation thrive.
- Craft and implement a content strategy that aligns with our business objectives and keeps our audience coming back for more.
- Oversee the production of high-quality, original content that stands out across all our platforms.
- Work closely with our publishing manager to ensure smooth team reporting and deliver a dynamic digital experience for our readers.
- Partner with the events team to curate an event calendar that will have the industry talking.
- Collaborate with our design team to maintain our reputation for stunning visuals alongside our engaging content.
- You have a Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- You bring significant editorial experience in technology journalism or a related field to the table.
- You have a proven track record of managing and developing editorial teams.
- You understand digital publishing best practices and content analytics like the back of your hand.
- You can write and edit technology content in your sleep (but please don't - we need you awake).
- Your written and verbal English skills are flawless, demonstrating excellence in writing, narration, and presentation.
- You're a natural mentor, helping others become extraordinary writers, presenters, and managers.
- You understand Digital Frontier's goals, translating these into aligned editorial strategies, and informed choices on the best distribution methods for content.
- You're a stickler for deadlines and precision, both for content and internal responsibilities.
- You're proficient with Microsoft tools, project management tools, and publishing tools.
- You're assertive and cool under pressure, with extensive experience working as part of collaborative, multidisciplinary teams.
- You have a personable and professional manner that builds strong, trusting relationships.
- You're a time management guru, able to juggle tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- You're a team player who can make strategic and tactical decisions with your team and wider management.
