Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute Full time
Job Description

Project Overview

The Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute is seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our research team and contribute to a cutting-edge project focused on deciphering the role of codon usage in protein synthesis and gene regulation using artificial intelligence (AI) techniques.

Research Objectives

  • To develop and apply AI-driven models to unravel the underlying mechanisms of codon-level regulation of translation.
  • To investigate the impact of codon usage on protein synthesis and gene regulation in cancer.
  • To explore the potential of AI-driven approaches to identify novel therapeutic targets in cancer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement AI-driven models to study codon-level regulation of translation.
  • Analyze and interpret large-scale 'omics' data to identify patterns and trends related to codon usage and protein synthesis.
  • Collaborate with the research team to develop and refine AI-driven approaches to identify novel therapeutic targets in cancer.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science).
  • Strong background in AI and machine learning techniques.
  • Excellent programming skills in languages such as Python or R.
  • Experience with large-scale data analysis and interpretation.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

What We Offer

  • A highly competitive stipend and benefits package.
  • Access to state-of-the-art research facilities and equipment.
  • Opportunities for professional development and training in AI and machine learning techniques.
  • A dynamic and supportive research environment.

How to Apply

Applicants should submit their application, including a CV, cover letter, and contact information for two academic referees, to the University Applicant Portal. The application deadline is 31st October 2024.
