About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Failsafe Officer to join our Ophthalmology team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our administration team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring patient wait times are met and managed efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively manage waiting times for individual patients to ensure national standards are not breached.
- Negotiate patient management arrangements with key staff to ensure timely and efficient patient journeys.
- Liaise with central booking office, pre-operative assessment, and patient access team to ensure patient wait times are met.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients and their relatives.
- Work closely with surgeons, nursing, and other departmental colleagues to ensure capacity is maximized.
- Provide relevant information to key staff regarding patient waits and appointments.
- Monitor and validate RTT PTLs, highlighting concerns or issues to Failsafe Officer/RTT Navigator.
- Liaise closely with the Validation team to support patient tracking from referral to treatment and for follow-up.
Person Specification
- Essential:
- GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in literacy and numeracy.
- Appropriate experience of working within the NHS.
- Excellent IT skills; good working knowledge of MS Office to include Word, Access, and Excel.
- Ability to work on own initiative and without close supervision and work under pressure.
- Good working knowledge of TRAK, RTT.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with people internal and external to the organization.
- Capacity to understand information in data format and interpret this.
