Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Ophthalmology for a Failsafe Officer to join the team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of the Ophthalmology Department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring patient wait times are met and providing dedicated support to the administration team.

Main Responsibilities

Proactively manage patient wait times to ensure national standards are met, negotiating patient management arrangements with key staff as needed.

Ensure the patient's journey is processed in a timely and efficient manner, escalating issues to resolve potential delays.

Liaise with the central booking office, pre-operative assessment, and patient access team to ensure patient wait times are met.

Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients and their relatives, working closely with surgeons, nursing, and other departmental colleagues to maximize capacity.

Provide relevant information to key staff regarding patient waits and appointments, monitoring and validating RTT PTLs and highlighting concerns or issues to the Failsafe Officer/RTT Navigator.
