About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Anaesthetist to join our team at James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant Anaesthetist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality anaesthetic care to patients undergoing surgery, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of anaesthetic services within the trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide anaesthetic care to patients undergoing surgery, including general anaesthesia, regional anaesthesia, and sedation.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of anaesthetic services within the trust, including the development of policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the on-call rota for general anaesthesia, including maternity cover.
  • Provide teaching and training to junior anaesthetists and other healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to the development of research projects and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Person Specification

We are looking for a Consultant Anaesthetist who has:

FRCA or equivalent qualification.MBBS or Basic Medical Degree.On the UK (GMC) Specialist Register or being within 6 months of completion of UK Anaesthetic training or being on or eligible for the UK (GMC) Specialist Register at the date of interview.Full GMC registration.

Desirable qualifications include a postgraduate degree in education and experience as a Consultant Anaesthetist in the UK. We are also looking for candidates with an interest in pre-assessment/peri-operative anaesthesia, obstetric anaesthesia, and u/s guided vascular access and nerve blocks.
