Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Programme and Project Manager with line management experience to join our team at the NHS Business Services Authority. As a key member of our Programme Management Directorate, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of projects and programmes, as well as providing line management for project professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Line Management:
    • Manage, coach, and mentor project delivery and change management professionals.
    • Appraise and perform management of team members in line with NHSBSA policies and core competencies.
    • Identify and support talent within the team to develop individual careers.
  • Programme and Project Delivery:
    • Deliver programmes and projects in line with the NHSBSA Programme and Project Management Frameworks.
    • Create and lead programmes and projects to deliver agreed outcomes within time, cost, and quality constraints.
  • Programme and Project Management:
    • Day-to-day management and leadership of programmes and projects.
    • Provide effective leadership and management controls.
    • Set programme and project controls.
  • Business Case:
    • Deliver programme and project business cases, including drafting and securing collaborative input from subject matter experts.
  • Budget:
    • Develop budgets and track delivery within budget.
  • Resource Management:
    • Secure resources and direct planning, scheduling, resourcing, and estimating for large-scale programmes.
  • Benefits Realisation:
    • Deliver agreed business case scope in line with defined time, cost, and quality criteria to enable the realisation of benefits in post-project benefit realisation.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Identify and manage stakeholder relationships and highlight the need for senior-level support.
  • Risks and Issues:
    • Identify and monitor project risks and issues, develop mitigating actions, and escalate as appropriate.
  • Governance and Controls:
    • Maintain overall integrity and coherence of programme and governance framework to support each project.
