Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems. As a Principal Engineer - Product Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our submarine systems and products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate safety risks across multiple systems and projects.
  • Develop and implement safety strategies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Conduct hazard identification and analysis studies to identify potential safety risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Collaborate with the Whole Boat Safety Team to ensure safety is integrated into all aspects of the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain safety reports and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams to ensure safety is integrated into all aspects of the project lifecycle.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience in safety engineering, with a focus on product safety and risk management.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and standards, including those related to the maritime defence sector.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to analyze complex safety data and develop effective mitigation plans.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
