About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our Corporate Communications team as a Digital Communications Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals who are passionate about promoting the impact of our research and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide general communications assistance to the external communications team, including support to the media team, social media, public and stakeholder engagement, web, internal communications, and communications planning.
  • Produce digital materials for use across a range of platforms, including video, photography, and audio files.
  • Work with the social media officer to promote STFC materials across different platforms and encourage traffic between them and back to the STFC website.
  • Provide content for real-time use at STFC events, such as live tweets and pictures.
  • Write content for use on any of our communications platforms.
  • Participate in events and visits and to Directorate and STFC-wide initiatives and committees.
  • Assist with the monitoring of SM channels.
  • Assist with the creation of social media evaluation reports.
  • Write online articles that follow a campaign theme and are targeted at specific audiences.
  • Provide technical skills and support for the production of a fortnightly creation of a regular staff e-newsletter.
  • General business support to all parts of communications, including being part of a rota for the monitoring of group inboxes.
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled on an undergraduate degree course and returning to university/studies to complete your undergraduate degree following the placement.
  • Required or have requested to take an industrial placement year.
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the placement.
  • Able to commence employment in summer 2025.
  • People organisational skills.
  • Social media/digital experience.
  • Can demonstrate experience of principles and practice of customer care.
  • Willingness to learn new skills, both technical and non-technical.
