Position Overview:
This role is essential in advancing the Electrical Engineering department, particularly in the context of developing and launching Hydrogen and Electric zero-emission vehicles. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that vehicle electrical systems are integrated and installed to the highest standards. This position will also involve supporting engineering teams in creating documentation that outlines best practices for electrical installations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support for New Product Development:
- Assist NPD electrical engineers with hands-on tasks, including vehicle preparation for testing and participation in the testing process.
- Develop test configurations, including harnesses and software programming interfaces.
- Collaborate with test facilities to facilitate environmental and homologation testing.
- Conduct experimental design testing and sample disposition testing.
- Program replacement control modules for vehicles in service.
- Help diagnose faults in prototype vehicles.
- Assistance for Current Contracts:
- Aid in the programming and commissioning of vehicles according to production schedules.
- Support production in charging high-voltage battery modules.
- Assist electrical engineers in troubleshooting production line issues.
- Conduct first batch specification sign-offs in collaboration with Quality Assurance.
- Contribute to customer option development and support mock-up creation.
- Draft and update detailed work instructions outlining critical installation methods.
- Create rework instructions, harnesses, and bills of materials.
- Facilitate the integration of alternative parts.
- Lab and Equipment Management:
- Oversee the organization and inventory of electrical test and diagnostic equipment.
- Monitor calibration certification updates for all relevant electrical engineering tools.
- Procure test and diagnostic equipment as per engineering requirements.
- Maintain tidiness and organization within electrical engineering labs.
- Quality Auditing:
- Conduct regular audits of electrical build processes and bills of materials.
- Identify and address incorrect installation methods or non-conformance to work instructions.
- Ensure parts are delivered to the correct build cells.
- Verify the accuracy of bills of materials for relevant build areas.
- Warranty and Service Issue Investigation:
- Assist in investigating faults both remotely and at customer locations.
- Support the resolution of warranty defects.
General Requirements:
All duties must be performed in compliance with General Data Protection regulations, maintaining confidentiality at all times. Work must meet the standards set by ISO 9001. Candidates are expected to treat all individuals with respect and courtesy, adhering to the Dignity at Work Procedure.
Qualifications:
- HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline, or 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in an engineering environment with a focus on problem-solving techniques in production settings.

- Self-motivated with effective organizational skills, particularly in time and task management.
- Flexible and adaptable, willing to travel for business and work overtime as needed.
