Job Title: English Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled English Specialist to join our team at oilandgas. As a key member of our customs department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with HMRC guidelines and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage customs special procedures for the UK Business Units, ensuring ongoing compliance with NOV customs approvals.
  2. Maintain accurate records of goods imported to Inward Processing and assist with submission of Bills of Discharge to HMRC to meet deadlines.
  3. Manage third-party approved vendors in line with current Inward Processing Authorisation.
  4. Prepare and support external audits as required by HMRC.
  5. Knowledge of commodity codes and customs clearance procedures.
  6. Recordkeeping in line with HMRC guidance.
  7. Knowledge of FTA and Origin and Preference.
  8. Post-entry audit checks required.
  9. Issuing letters of instruction to customs brokers for IP shipments.

Requirements:

  1. Extensive experience in Import/Export (Customs Qualification completed with Institute of Export - desirable).
  2. In-depth knowledge of Customs practices and Customs special procedures.
  3. Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, Outlook).
  4. Working knowledge of ERP systems.
  5. Knowledge of using a duty management system.
  6. Understands business needs and drivers, and can anticipate the impact of change, accepting risk and uncertainty.
  7. Provides colleagues with the necessary information to complete tasks and improve processes based on business needs.
  8. Takes personal responsibility in challenging situations, engages in disputes to settle them equitably, and dependably achieves goals.
  9. Motivates a wide range of individuals, including direct reports and team members, and is firm yet diplomatic when negotiating.
