Job Title: Building Control Compliance Inspector

We are expanding our Construction Health and Safety Team into a Compliance Team, which includes a Building Regulations Principal Designer role. This position has been created in response to recent changes in the construction industry related to the Building Safety Act.

About the Role

As a key member of our close-knit team, you will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary property and construction consultancy to deliver robust solutions that meet our clients' aims, objectives, and aspirations within the parameters of the Building Safety Act and current Building Regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Offer advice on the Building Safety Act and Building Regulations.
  • Undertake plan checks and review designs to establish compliance for submission for Building Regulation approval.
  • Attend client and design team meetings to provide professional advice regarding building regulations.
  • Provide technical advice to clients, contractors, developers, colleagues, and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure project design is completed in line with current building regulations and legislation.
  • Ensure output from projects is of a high standard.
  • Awareness of the value of, and starting to grow, a network of contacts is also important.
  • High technical and commercial standards must be established and maintained as quality of work and 'added value' for our clients are priorities.
  • Written communication involves End of Design Stage Reports, Building Regulations Trackers.
  • Computer literate.
  • Under supervision, the role includes the ability to contribute to and develop bid submissions and fee proposals.
Requirements
  • Ideally educated to degree level in a construction-related field with a preference for a design-related degree or significant relevant, associated, and equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience of working on multiple projects.
  • An understanding and experience of the design and construction process together with experience of inspecting buildings and properties.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Building Regulations, codes, and any other associated legislation.
  • A current record of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Ability to use SharePoint and other technology/programs.
