Verdant Specialty Solutions, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Technical Service Chemist to join our team at our Halifax West Yorkshire facility. As part of our Technical Service team, you will report to the Technical Service Manager Europe, to support the Technical Service functions, both in Europe and the USA.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out work programs as agreed by Technical Service Managers and report back on a regular basis.
- Supervise the work of an intern on a day-to-day basis.
- Be responsible for safety in the laboratory on a day-to-day basis and represent the Technical Service Laboratory on the site Safety Committee.
- Develop and implement new processes for synthesizing products in the lab up to 5 Kg scale.
- Analyze products using existing site analytical methods in QC lab or industry-standard methods.
- Formulate and blend surfactants to meet customer needs and test these products in the laboratory.
- Conduct application and performance testing, including testing of physical parameters, of surfactants and formulations.
- Support plant trials of new/development products.
- Ensure lab and storeroom housekeeping standards are met and maintained and safety checks are completed.
- Obtain raw materials for use in lab for sampling, synthesis, testing, or formulation work.
- Prepare and dispatch samples, ensuring they are packed and labeled correctly, with the correct paperwork, and meet legal requirements.
- Participate in industry trade shows and customer meetings.
Requirements
What Qualifications, Skills, and Experience You Need:
- A graduate with a BSc/MSc Hons in Chemistry or equivalent qualifications, and some experience, ideally in an industry related to Verdant Specialty Solutions, Inc.
- A strong interest in applying scientific knowledge to practical, commercial situations, and good practical lab skills.
- Strong mathematical and analytical experiences are essential.
- A self-starter, with the ability to supervise both activities and other employees.
- The ability to communicate confidently and effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrates problem-solving abilities.
- A full/Clean UK driving license.
