Position Overview
As a key contributor to a significant research initiative, you will engage in a project focused on the environmental impacts of mining on river systems. This collaborative effort, involving multiple universities, aims to establish a comprehensive understanding of the ecological consequences of mining activities in the Philippines.

Project Details
PAMANA: This project is designed to investigate the legacy and ongoing effects of mining on Philippine river systems, with a goal of promoting sustainable practices. You will work alongside a team of researchers, contributing to data analysis and publication efforts in the fields of fluvial geomorphology, sediment geochemistry, and river management policies.

Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the planning and execution of research activities in alignment with project objectives.
2. Document research findings, including data analysis and interpretation, while maintaining accurate records.
3. Build and sustain a strong research profile, contributing to high-quality publications in reputable journals.
4. Conduct literature reviews to identify research challenges and develop effective strategies.
5. Present research outcomes at conferences and seminars to enhance the visibility of the project.
6. Identify potential funding opportunities and assist in proposal development.
7. Foster collaborations with colleagues and partners in the academic community.
8. Participate in team meetings and contribute to the overall research culture.
9. Mentor and supervise students and junior researchers.
10. Manage administrative tasks related to the research group.
11. Engage in teaching activities as required.
12. Stay informed about advancements in the field.
13. Pursue professional development to enhance skills.
14. Undertake additional duties as needed.

Qualifications and Skills
Essential:
A1. PhD or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field.
A2. In-depth knowledge of fluvial geomorphology.
A3. Awareness of current trends and future directions in the field.

Skills:
C1. Proven ability to deliver high-quality research outputs.
C2. Proficiency in relevant software tools such as ArcGIS, Matlab, or Python.
C3. Strong collaborative and creative research skills.
C4. Excellent interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
C5. Effective project and time management skills.

Desirable:
D1. Experience with cosmogenic nuclide data analysis.
D2. Knowledge of sediment geochemistry.
D3. Familiarity with river management practices.
D4. Understanding of sustainable mining practices.

Experience
Essential:
E1. Relevant research experience, ideally including postdoctoral work.
E2. Track record of presenting and publishing research findings.
E3. Demonstrated leadership in academic activities.
E4. Ability to work independently and design research projects.
E5. Experience in conducting independent research.
