Lead Consultant for Building Services and Technology – Central London – Attractive Benefits

Skilled Careers is collaborating with a distinguished multi-disciplinary consultancy seeking a seasoned Lead Consultant for Building Services and Technology. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in cutting-edge building systems and advanced smart building technologies, ready to enhance their expanding team in Central London.

The successful applicant will have a varied professional background and be prepared to spearhead their European Building Services and Smart Building divisions.

As a pivotal figure in project leadership, you will oversee all MEP Engineering and Smart Building-related services throughout the complete project life-cycle.

In your role within the global team, you will also be accountable for the ongoing strategy and resource allocation of the business, alongside daily collaboration with their international engineering, technology, and sustainability teams. As the industry transitions towards comprehensive decarbonization, your expertise and insight will be vital in guiding the global team to navigate these evolving and demanding challenges. By implementing top-tier solutions, you will collaborate with clients and partners to enhance the built environment while safeguarding the natural ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily management and leadership of the internal team, ensuring sustainable business growth through exceptional project delivery, team development, and securing new work.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to your team to foster business growth.
  • Lead both internal and external project teams focused on MEP and Smart Building Technology services, including consultancy and design-build workplace projects.
  • Collaborate with clients and project teams to establish project scope, timelines, budgets, and construction costs.
  • Support building services engineering, contractors, and technical staff to ensure design, costing, timing, and quality align with project specifications.
  • Assist project management and procurement teams with technical and commercial evaluations, as well as value engineering solutions during the bidding process.
  • Coordinate with architects and other external consultants to define the design brief and work with partners throughout the design and construction phases.
  • Inspect and supervise various MEP disciplines during construction, providing solutions to address site challenges.
  • Engage with internal teams as a stakeholder to enhance sustainable operations and implement ESG initiatives.
  • Collaborate with architecture, design, strategy, and sustainability teams to create best-in-class designs and specify innovative building systems that prioritize low carbon emissions, high operational efficiency, and occupant well-being.
  • Develop new client relationships and strengthen existing ones by delivering strategic consulting, exceptional value, and quality service.
  • Work with the Client Services Team to identify opportunities and support business development efforts, including responding to client RFPs and participating in client interviews and presentations.
  • Travel to client projects, other offices, and industry events as necessary.

Qualifications & Key Competencies:

  • 10+ years of experience in Building Services Engineering.
  • University Degree in Building Services Engineering or a related field (Electrical and Mechanical).
  • Proficient in leading a team and mentoring junior members.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards.
  • Experience in inspecting and supervising various MEP disciplines during construction and providing solutions to site issues.
  • Ability to coordinate and review MEP Design BOQ and documentation with third-party consultants and vendors.
  • Capable of conducting testing and commissioning procedures and drafting T&C plans.
  • Experience in responding to RFPs, developing project fees, and participating in client interviews.
  • Background in projects with sustainability, low carbon, or low energy objectives.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with professionals at all levels.
  • Adept at managing multiple competing deadlines in a dynamic environment.
