About the Role

Fawkes & Reece (North) is seeking a skilled Site Engineer to provide technical support on new build housing developments in the North West region. As a Freelance Site Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of projects within budget and timescale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Technical and Commercial Departments in issuing tender drawings to contractors, assessing them upon return, and formally awarding the works.
  • Review engineering designs to ensure their cost-effectiveness and buildability.
  • Coordinate as-built surveys and agree issues with external bodies within the remit of cost and programme.
  • Instruct consultants to vary or amend designs within the remit of cost and programme.
  • Accept quotations for service connections within the remit of budget.
  • Work within budgets set by others and report any potential overspend.
  • Inspect road and sewer works from commencement to formal adoption by Local Authority, ensuring works are carried out within an agreed budget and timescale.
  • Obtain plot to postal addresses and service connection quotations.
  • Prior to legal completion of all new homes, ensure the appropriate driveways and footpaths are completed to agreed standards.
  • Answer queries from site on engineering issues.

Requirements

  • Good engineering knowledge from previous experience of working within the House Building Sector (essential).
  • Experience providing technical support/supervision on roads, sewers, earthworks, foundations, and services (essential).
  • Understanding of Section 38 and Section 104 agreements (essential).
  • HNC or above in Civil Engineering (desirable).
  • Track record in delivering building control approvals.
  • Experience of managing external consultants.
  • Demonstrate background in preparing schedules of work.
  • Keen eye for detail and ability to process technical information.
  • Comfortable using engineering-related software like AutoCAD, PDS, and Microdrainage.
