About the Job

The Care Worker will provide personal care duties to Service Users in a community setting, contributing to care planning processes through observation, communication, and liaison with service users, relatives, staff, and agencies. Confidentiality is essential at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Undertake personal tasks as described in the Care Plan, respecting individuals' privacy and dignity.
  2. Use equipment as directed by the Care Plan, following appropriate training, including hoisting, VNS, and Moving & Handling.
  3. Contribute verbally to the assessment, planning, implementation, and review of Care Plans, liaising with other professionals and carers.
  4. Observe and accurately communicate changes in service users' needs, recording accurately in running records in accordance with the written records policy.
  5. Assist service users to engage in activities in line with their individual care plans and risk assessments.
  6. Attend staff meetings, receive supervision, and training, and contribute to the efficiency of the service, service user file management, and liaison with carers.
  7. Have a working knowledge and understanding of the MCA/DOLs and its impact in residential care settings.
  8. Actively promote service user involvement and empowerment, individuals' rights to choice and inclusion.
  9. Respond appropriately to crisis and emergency situations, reporting to the team leader/senior care staff.
  10. Act at all times in line with the department's budgetary and financial guidelines.
  11. Undertake domestic tasks to ensure a clean and tidy environment.
Key Accountabilities:
  1. Work to achieve and maintain high standards of quality and efficiency in services provided by Nottinghamshire County Council and the Adult Social Care Health, Public & Protection Department.
  2. Develop and improve personal skills through participation in and contribution to formal and informal staff development processes and training.
  3. Ensure confidentiality of information in respect of records maintained and tasks undertaken within County Council Policy and relevant legislation.
  4. Use allocated resources efficiently and effectively, participating in performance review systems for Departmental services and other measures allied to the supply and monitoring of management information connected with the post holder's field of work.
  5. Maintain effective working relationships and contribute to a working environment that is safe, considerate, and supportive to all.
  6. Demonstrate commitment to and comply with the specific requirements and the spirit of the County Council Equal Opportunities Policy.
