Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer

Assystem is a leading international company accelerating the energy transition worldwide. We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in a high-risk environment.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary team, supporting current operations and future programs, particularly in nuclear facilities. The team is responsible for developing and maintaining Engineering Design Substantiation documents to ensure compliance with safety and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop, assess, and manage Infrastructure Design Substantiation documents.
  2. Manage design changes/concessions and present design substantiations to safety committees.
  3. Develop Examination, Inspection, Maintenance & Testing (EIMT) schedules and safety reports.
  4. Provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders and conduct Independent Technical Reviews.
  5. Apply engineering knowledge to design, develop, and maintain engineering processes and systems.
  6. Justify civil/structural design modifications in a high-hazard industry.
  7. Review technical reports and safety case submissions.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have expertise in current design standards and practices, capable of contributing to concept design, detailed design, and construction stages across various electrical engineering projects. Experience in assessing electrical equipment for hazards and specifying systems for HV and LV networks is essential.

Essential qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of design standards and practices.
  • Theoretical and practical skills in design stages.
  • Experience in assessing electrical equipment.
  • Specification skills for HV and LV networks.
  • Ability to justify design modifications.
  • Familiarity with industrial machinery.
  • Experience in multi-discipline projects.

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Experience in high-risk environments.
  • Familiarity with safety case development.
  • Knowledge of nuclear industry regulations.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent.
  • Chartered Engineer status.
  • Safety case related training.
